New Movie: From Bond girl to bows and arrows: Sneak peek of Eva Green in 300: Rise of An Empire... and, yes, Xerxes makes a comeback
Zack Snyder's been a busy man - not
only is he currently promoting his new Superman movie Man Of Steel but
on the day of the premiere he also released a teaser trailer for his
next comic book movie - 300.
The director took to the blue carpet in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday night alongside Henry Cavill.
But
while the hype builds over the Henry Cavill film, he's already looking
to the next as he gears up for the 2014 release of follow up movie 300:
Rise Of An Empire, which he returned to albeit as a producer and writer
this time.
Making an appearance: Eva Green is seen in her new role in the first teaser trailer for 300: Rise Of An Empire
The epic film sees Eva Green perform as Persian general Artemisia, who is obsessed with getting vengeance against the Greeks and becomes one of the main villains in the follow up.
And she makes a dramatic appearance in the trailer, with her waging war with her army and pointing her bow and arrow.
Villain: She plays Artemisia in the franchise and is seen waging war in the new action packed trailer
He's back! Rodrigo Santoro reprises his role as Persian "god-King" Xerxes as he tries to take over yet more territory
Action packed: There's no Gerard Butler this
time but the story serves as neither a prequel or sequel as it takes
place before and after the events of 300
Although lead man from the original Gerard Butler is left out of the follow up film.
But he does make a small cameo in the trailer as Xerxes holds his sword over his neck at the start of the story.
Xerxes, played by Rodrigo Santoro, is adamant on taking over yet more territory and the teaser certainly promises many more epic battle scenes like the first film seven years ago.
Blood shed: The movie won;t be released until March 2014 but the teaser seems to promise another epic action movie
Also back: Game Of Thrones' Lena Headey also returns to the film and narrates over the trailer
Over the action shots, viewers hear Game of Thrones' Lena Headey reprising her role as Queen Gorgo, narrating the action.
She says: 'It begins as a whisper, a promise. The lightest of breezes dances above the death cries of 300 men. That breeze became a wind. A wind, my brothers, of sacrifice. A wind of freedom. A wind of justice. A wind of vengeance.'
Ready to fight: Zack Snyder directed the first
2006 movie but returns as producer and writer, while Noam Murro has
taken on directing duties
When it was revealed Gerard, who played Spartan king Leonidas, would not be returning, the Scottish star told MTV: 'Oh, yeah, I’m not doing it. They’re filming [the '300' sequel] right now. I wish them the best, but it didn’t [work out]. It wasn’t really my thing.'
As Snyder took a slight back seat in the film while he concentrated on Man Of Steel, they enlisted Smart People's Noam Murro to direct.
Raging war: Fans of the movie will be excited to see the new trailer as the two and a half minute clip is unveiled
Epic scenes: There is plenty of action promised for the follow up as they anticipate the 2014 release
Moving: There is plenty of sword swishing and bloodshed in the trailer, which sees the film at water for the majority
Speaking of the difficulties filming, Murro told MTV: 'The challenges are numerous in a sense that as technology develops, what happens is we shot this entire movie dry, meaning there was no water involved.
'You are really in a situation that you have to create a sense that the boats are really moving and sense that they are really in water, but they're not.
They mean business: Just like the first movie there are plenty of raging warriors battling against each other
Big star: Rodrigo Santoro returns as King Xerxes of Persia as the latest battles commences
Ready for battle: The movie looks to be another stunning picture if the new trailer is anything to go by
He also spoke of the story, revealing: 'The two new characters here are Themistocles and Artemisia. Those two characters are at the heart of this movie and are really driving it. I don't want to spoil it, but the heart of the movie is between these two characters.'
300: Rise OF An Empire is slated for release on 7 March, 2014.
